Not sure which one? PCVR needs a VR-ready gaming PC and a headset connected to it. The Quest build runs on the headset by itself.

Install

Install in four steps.

Pick your platform and follow along. You only need to do this once — after that, launch Early Time like any other game.

PCVR

  1. Download EarlyTime-PCVR.zip.
  2. Unzip it somewhere you can find again.
  3. Connect your headset and start your OpenXR runtime.
  4. Run Early Time.exe and put your headset on.

Meta Quest

  1. Download EarlyTime-Quest.apk.
  2. Turn on Developer Mode in the Meta Horizon app.
  3. Connect your Quest and sideload the APK with SideQuest or adb install.
  4. Launch Early Time from Unknown Sources.

Is Early Time cross-play?

Yes. PCVR and Meta Quest players join the same lobbies, so you can play with friends regardless of which build they use.

How many players can join a lobby?

Each lobby supports up to ten players.

Windows says the app is unsafe. What should I do?

The build is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning. If you downloaded it from this page, choose More info and then Run anyway.

The Quest APK will not install.

Make sure Developer Mode is enabled on your headset and that you have allowed installs from your PC. SideQuest can walk you through both if you are unsure.

How do I update the game?

Download the latest build from this page and replace your old copy. Your next launch will use the new files.
